WI-130 Product Labeling System

Utilizing a WI-130 and a Prodigy label printer, this system is designed to weigh boxes of product, accumulate the weight and number of boxes for that product, and print a bar-code label to be placed on the box.

Prior to using the system, up to 50 product codes, descriptions, and other related data must be setup and stored in the WI-130 database. This is accomplished by pressing the SETUP key. Data stored in this database include a product code, 4 lines of description, company name, city, state, and weight code.

To begin weighing boxes, the operator presses the WEIGH key. After entering a product code and tare weight, the display changes to net weighing mode.

The operator places a box on the scale. After a few seconds delay, the bar-code label automatically prints, and the weight and count for that product are accumulated. The system then returns to the net weighing mode, and the weighing of boxes continues.

The bar-code label that is printed contains the product information that is stored in the database, as well as the net weight. A Code 39 bar-code is printed for the net weight, and an I 2 of 5 bar-code is printed which identifies the product and plant number.

When finished weighing a particular "lot" of product, the operator presses the WEIGH key to enter a new product code. When this key is pressed, the system displays the accumulated weight and count for the product just completed. The operator then presses a key to enter a new product code.
