Product Code Lookup System

This system is comprised of a Windows based PC program, a WI-130, bar-code scanner, and a Prodigy printer. The purpose of the system is to generate one of six different bar-code labels based on a weighed product with information about the product, and provide data for generating production reports.

When a product is being weighed, the scale operator inputs a tare weight and product code into the WI-130. This is accomplished by scanning the appropriate bar-code from the product bar-code chart.

The product code is then transmitted to the PC application. The PC looks up the product code in the database and transmits all relative information back to the WI-130. This information includes tolerances, product description, piece weight, nominal weight, number of labels to print, etc.

When the WI-130 receives the information, the system compares the net weight on the scale to minimum and maximum allowable weight of the product. If the weight is within the limits, a bar-code label is then printed to a Prodigy printer and the transaction transmitted to the PC application.

The WI-130 will also print an Hourly Product Report at the top of every hour, and a shift report at the end of each shift. This report, also printed to the Prodigy printer, shows accumulated weight of all products weighed during the last hour.

The PC application includes such features as add/edit products, add/edit supervisors, and printing of six different reports.
